Psalm 61
To the Overcomer upon Neginah, A Psalm of David.
1¶ Hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer.
2From the end of the earth I will cry unto thee when my heart is overwhelmed; lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
3For thou hast been a shelter for me and a strong tower from the enemy.
4I will abide in thy tabernacle for ever; I will trust in the covert of thy wings. Selah.
5¶ For thou, O God, hast heard my vows; thou hast given an inheritance to those that fear thy name.
6Thou wilt add days upon days unto the king’s life; his years shall be from generation to generation.
7He shall abide before God for ever; He is aware of mercy and truth which preserve him.
8So I will sing thy name for ever, performing my vows each day.

A Prayer for Protection#Ps 61 Hebrew title: By David.
1Hear my cry, O God;
listen to my prayer!
2In despair and far from home
I call to you!
Take me to a safe refuge,
3for you are my protector,
my strong defence against my enemies.
4Let me live in your sanctuary all my life;
let me find safety under your wings.
5You have heard my promises, O God,
and you have given me what belongs to those who honour you.
6Add many years to the king's life;
let him live on and on!
7May he rule for ever in your presence, O God;
protect him with your constant love and faithfulness.
8So I will always sing praises to you,
as I offer you daily what I have promised.
