Psalms 127

Psalm 127
A Song of degrees for Solomon.
1¶ Unless the Lord builds the house, they labour in vain that build it; unless the Lord keeps the city, the watchmen watch in vain.
2 It is vain for you to rise up early, to come home late, to eat the bread of sorrows, because he shall give his beloved sleep.
3Behold, sons are a heritage of the Lord, and the fruit of the womb is to be desired.
4As arrows in the hand of a mighty man, so are the young men.
5Happy is the man that has filled his quiver with them: he shall not be ashamed when he speaks with the enemies in the gate.

Psalms 127
127
In Praise of God's Goodness#Ps 127 Hebrew title: By Solomon.
1If the LORD does not build the house,
the work of the builders is useless;
if the LORD does not protect the city,
it is useless for the sentries to stand guard.
2It is useless to work so hard for a living,
getting up early and going to bed late.
For the LORD provides for those he loves,
while they are asleep.
3Children are a gift from the LORD;
they are a real blessing.
4The sons a man has when he is young
are like arrows in a soldier's hand.
5Happy is the man who has many such arrows.
He will never be defeated
when he meets his enemies in the place of judgement.
