Psalms 114

Psalm 114
1¶ When Israel went out of Egypt, the house of Jacob from a people of strange language,
2Judah was his holiness, and Israel his dominion.
3The sea saw it and fled; Jordan was driven back.
4The mountains skipped like rams and the little hills like lambs.
5What came upon thee, O thou sea, that thou didst flee? And thou O Jordan, that thou wast driven back?
6Ye mountains, why didst ye skip like rams and ye little hills, like lambs?
7At the presence of the Lord, the earth trembles, at the presence of the God of Jacob,
8who turned the rock into a reservoir of water, the flint into a fountain of waters.

Psalm 114
1When Israel left Egypt,
when Jacob’s family left people who spoke a foreign language,
2Judah became his holy place and Israel became his kingdom.
3The Red Sea looked at this and ran away.
The Jordan River turned back.
4The mountains jumped like rams.
The hills jumped like lambs.
5Red Sea, why did you run away?
Jordan River, what made you turn back?
6Mountains, what made you jump like rams?
Hills, what made you jump like lambs?
7Earth, tremble in the presence of the Lord,
in the presence of the God of Jacob.
8He turns a rock into a pool filled with water
and turns flint into a spring flowing with water.
