Zechariah 14:7

Prayers and reflections for the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity in 2026 are prepared by by the Inter-Church Relations Department of the Armenian Apostolic Church. The resources draw upon historic traditions of prayer and petitions used by the Armenian people, originated in the ancient monasteries and churches of Armenia. The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity 2026 offers Christians throughout the world the opportunity to draw upon this shared Christian heritage. Resources are jointly published by the Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity and the World Council of Churches.

Like Haggai, Zechariah prophesies during the post-exilic period as Israel began resettling in the Promised Land. Zechariah encourages Israel to remain faithful and prophesies of a coming righteous King who will bring salvation to His people (Zechariah 9:10). This book reminds us that we too must be to what God has called us to, always hopefully anticipating when God Himself “will be king over all the earth” (Zechariah 14:9).

This is the ninth of 12 monthly reading plans for a full year of study. Each focuses on the Book of Revelation while connecting related Old and New Testament passages. This month explores Revelation 20, where Satan is bound, Christ reigns with His people for a thousand years, the final rebellion is defeated and the dead are judged before the great white throne. Related passages include Isaiah 11, Isaiah 65, Ezekiel 37-48, Zechariah 14 and 1 Corinthians 15. These chapters reveal Christ's reign, the defeat of evil and the promise of God's renewed creation.
