Psalm 60
60
To the chief Musician upon Shushan-eduth, Michtam of David, to teach; when he strove with Aram-naharaim and with Aram-zobah, when Joab returned, and smote of Edom in the valley of salt twelve thousand.
1O God, thou hast cast us off, thou has scattered us,
Thou hast been displeased; O turn thyself to us again.
2Thou hast made the earth to tremble; thou hast broken it:
Heal the breaches thereof; for it shaketh.
3Thou hast shewed thy people hard things:
Thou hast made us to drink the wine of astonishment.
4Thou hast given a banner to them that fear thee,
That it may be displayed because of the truth. Selah.
5That thy beloved may be delivered;
Save with thy right hand, and hear me.
6God hath spoken in his holiness; I will rejoice, I will divide Shechem,
And mete out the valley of Succoth.
7Gilead is mine, and Manasseh is mine;
Ephraim also is the strength of mine head; Judah is my lawgiver;
8Moab is my washpot; Over Edom will I cast out my shoe:
Philistia, triumph thou because of me.
9Who will bring me into the strong city?
Who will lead me into Edom?
10 Wilt not thou, O God, which hadst cast us off?
And thou, O God, which didst not go out with our armies?
11Give us help from trouble:
For vain is the help of man.
12Through God we shall do valiantly:
For he it is that shall tread down our enemies.

Song of Victory Over Edom
1For the music director, on the “Lily of the Covenant,” a Michtam of David, for teaching,
2when he fought with Aram-Naharaim and with Aram-Zobah, and Joab returned and struck down twelve thousand Edomites in the Valley of Salt.
3O God, You have spurned us. You have broken out against us. You have been angry. Turn back to us!
4You made earth shake; You split it open. Heal its fractures—for it shudders.
5You made Your people see hardship. You made us drink wine of staggering.
6To those who fear You, You gave a banner, to be unfurled before the archers. Selah
7Save with Your right hand and answer us, so that Your beloved may be delivered.
8God has spoken in His holiness: “I will exult! I will parcel out Shechem and measure off the valley of Succoth.
9Gilead is Mine, and Manasseh is Mine, Ephraim is a helmet for my head, Judah is my scepter.
10Moab is my washbasin, On Edom I toss my sandal, Philistia, cry aloud because of me!”
11Who will bring me into the fortified city? Who will lead me to Edom?
12Should it not be You, O God— who spurned us and no longer goes out with our armies?
13Give us aid against the adversary, for the help of man is worthless.
14With God we will do mighty things, and He will trample our foes.
