And do not be conformed, molded, or patterned according to the values, thinking, and behavior of this present evil age, but instead be continuously transformed by the complete renewing of your mind and way of thinking, with the purpose of discerning and proving what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God for your life.

Therefore, in light of all that God has done for you in salvation, I urge you earnestly, brothers and sisters, by appealing to the mercies of God that have been lavished upon you, to offer your bodies—your entire selves, including all your physical and mental faculties and abilities—as a living sacrifice, holy and well-pleasing to God, which is your spiritual and reasonable act of worship.

With regard to your hope in Christ, be rejoicing; with regard to affliction, be patiently enduring; with regard to prayer, be constantly persisting.

In regard to brotherly love and affection for fellow believers, be tenderly affectionate and devoted to one another; in regard to showing honor and respect, take the lead in giving preference and showing respect to one another rather than seeking it for yourself.

Let your love be genuine and without hypocrisy. Detest and hate what is evil with intense revulsion; cling to and attach yourself firmly to what is good.

If it is possible, so far as it depends on you and your own conduct, live at peace and in harmony with all people.

Beloved, never take revenge, but rather leave room for God’s wrath and judgment, for it stands written in Scripture: “Vengeance belongs to Me, I will repay and settle accounts, says the Lord.”*

Do not be lazy, slack, or hesitant in your diligent effort and zeal; be fervent, burning, and boiling over in your spirit with enthusiasm; continually serving the Lord as your master.

For I say, by the authority of the grace which was given to me, to every single person who is among you: do not think of yourself more highly or with an inflated opinion beyond what you ought to think, but rather think with sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith that God has distributed and apportioned to each person.

Never repay or return to anyone evil for evil that was done to you. Take forethought to do what is honorable, right, and noble in the sight of all people.

Be of the same mind and in harmony with one another; do not set your mind on lofty and arrogant things, but associate with the lowly. Do not become wise in your own estimation.

But on the contrary, “If your enemy is hungry, feed him and provide food; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by doing this, you will heap burning coals of fire on his head.”*

Bless and speak well of those who persecute and mistreat you; continue to bless them and do not pronounce curses upon them. Rejoice together with those who are rejoicing and celebrating; weep and mourn together with those who are weeping and grieving—showing genuine empathy.

Contributing generously to supply the material needs of the saints—fellow believers; pursuing and practicing hospitality eagerly and warmly.

For just as we have many members in one physical body, and all these members do not have the same function or role to perform, In the same way we who are many individual believers are one body united in Christ, and individually we are members belonging to and connected with one another in mutual dependence.
