who contrary to hope believed in hope, so that he might become the father of many nations according to that which had been spoken, “So will your descendants be.”*

On account of this, it is by faith, so that it may be according to grace, in order that the promise may be made certain to all the descendants, not only to the follower of the Law,* but also to the follower of the faith of Abraham,* who is the father of us all.

“Blessed are those whose lawless acts have been forgiven, and whose sins have been covered; blessed is the man* whose sin the Lord will never take into account.”*
