Little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in action and in truth.

By this we know love, that He laid down His life on behalf of us, and we ought to lay down our lives on behalf of the brothers.

By this the children of God and the children of the devil are obvious: Everyone who does not practise righteousness is not of God, nor is the one who does not love his brother.

For this is the word which you have heard from the beginning, that we should love one another
