And Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and let him take up his cross and follow Me.

And I say also to you, that you are Peter; but upon this Rock I will build My church, and the gates of the grave shall not prevail against it.

And I will give to you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever you may bind on the earth will have already been bound in heaven; and whatever you may loose on the earth will have already been loosed in heaven.”

For whoever desires to save his life shall lose it; but whoever will lose his life for My sake shall find it.

For what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world, but loses his life? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his life?

He said to them, “But you, who do you declare Me to be?” Then Simon Peter answered and said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”

And Jesus answered and said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jona, for flesh and blood did not reveal it to you, but My Father, Who is in heaven.
