And the LORD said to Moses, “See, I have made you a god to Pharaoh. And Aaron your brother shall be your prophet.

And I will harden Pharaoh’s heart and multiply My signs and My wonders in the land of Egypt. But Pharaoh shall not hearken to you, and I will lay My hand upon Egypt, and bring My armies, My people the children of Israel, out of the land of Egypt by great judgments.

And the Egyptians shall know that I am the LORD when I stretch forth My hand upon Egypt, and bring out the children of Israel from among them.”

Then Pharaoh also called the wise men and the sorcerers. And they, the priests of Egypt, did the same with their secret arts, For each man threw down his rod, and they became snakes, but Aaron’s rod swallowed up their rods.

Thus says the LORD, “In this you shall know that I am the LORD. Behold, I will smite with the rod that is in My hand upon the waters in the river, and they shall be turned to blood.

“When Pharaoh shall speak to you saying, ‘Give a miracle for yourselves,’ you shall say to Aaron, ‘Take your rod, and throw it in front of Pharaoh. It shall become a snake.’ ” And Moses and Aaron went in to Pharaoh. And they did so as the LORD had commanded. And Aaron threw down his rod in front of Pharaoh and in front of his servants, and it became a snake.
