Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ, our Lord! So then I myself am a slave to the law of God in my mind, but a slave to the law of sin with my flesh.

For I know that no good thing lives in me, that is, in my flesh. The intention is present in me, but the accomplishing of excellence is not there.

For the good that I intend to do, I don’t do, but the evil that I don’t intend, I habitually do.

But if I do what I don’t intend, it is no longer I who accomplishes it, but sin that lives in me.

So I find this law: when I desire to do what is excellent, worthlessness is present within me. For I delight in God’s law in my inward humanity

But if I do what I don’t intend, then I agree that the law is excellent.
