You must compete in the excellent competition, and take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made the excellent confession in the sight of many witnesses.

For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some have been led astray from the faith in their greed, and have pierced themselves with many sorrows.

But godliness with contentment is great gain.

For we brought nothing into the world, and we can’t carry anything out.

Charge those who are rich in this present age not to be arrogant or have their hope set on the uncertainty of riches, but on the living God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy.

Those who are determined to get rich fall into a temptation, a snare, and many foolish and harmful desires that drown humans into ruin and destruction.

Instruct them to do good, to be rich in excellent works, and to be generous, and willing to share; storing up for themselves an excellent foundation against the time to come, that they may take hold of eternal life.
