But sanctify Christ as Lord in y’all’s hearts. Always be ready to give an answer to everyone who asks y’all to give a reason for the hope that is in y’all. But do this with gentleness and reverence, keeping a good conscience, so that when y’all are spoken against, those who curse y’all’s good way of life in Christ might be put to shame.

For the eyes of the Lord [YHWH] are on the righteous, and ʜɪꜱ ears are open to their prayer; but the face of the Lord [YHWH] is against those who do evil.”

Let your beauty come not merely from outward adornments, such as elaborate hairstyles, wearing gold jewelry, or putting on fine clothing, but from the humanity hidden in the heart, the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in God’s sight.

For, “Whoever wants to love life and see good days, must keep their tongue from evil and their lips from speaking deceit. They must turn away from evil and do good. They must seek peace and pursue it.

Finally, all y’all should be one-minded and sympathetic, having the affection of siblings and being compassionate and humble. Y’all are not to return evil for evil or insult for insult, but instead give a blessing, because y’all were called so that y’all would inherit a blessing.

Now who will harm y’all if y’all become zealous for what is good?

They must turn away from evil and do good. They must seek peace and pursue it.

For it is better, if it is God’s will, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil.
