Don’t let anyone trick you in any way. That day won’t come until people rise up against God and the man of sin appears. He’s a marked man, headed for ruin.

But we should always thank God for you, brothers and sisters, because the Lord loves you and chose you as the first to be saved. This has happened through the work of the Holy Spirit, which makes people holy, and through your belief in the truth.

He’ll oppose everything that’s called God or is worshiped, and he’ll give himself power over everything. He’ll set himself up in God’s temple and announce that he’s God himself.

May our Lord Jesus Christ and God our Father encourage your hearts and make you strong in every good thing that you do and say. God loved us and by his grace he has given us good hope and encouragement that will last forever.

So God lets them be fooled completely, so that they’ll believe the false things they’ve been told.

The coming of the man of sin will fit how Satan works. He’ll show his power through all kinds of signs and wonders that will lead people astray. People who are being lost will be fooled by this evil because they refuse to love the truth that would save them.

The secret power of sin is already at work, but the one who’s now holding back that power will keep doing it until he’s taken out of the way.
