Day 4: Corrected by Christ
God’s Word doesn’t just point out what’s wrong—it corrects your course. To correct means to lovingly guide you back when you’ve drifted off track.
From splintered relationships to heartbreaking news, the world constantly reminds us that things fall apart. Scripture affirms what we already know: “For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the freedom and glory of the children of God” (Romans 8:20-21, NIV).
The world is groaning, longing for restoration. But God doesn’t leave us in despair. He is not sitting back, relaxing. He is actively correcting what’s broken. “He is before all things, and in him all things hold together” (Colossians 1:17, NIV). Jesus isn’t just holding creation together. He’s moving it toward redemption.
The Kuwaa people of West Africa tell a story that beautifully reflects this truth. For generations, they passed down tales of ten traditional sacrifices—and one mysterious eleventh they couldn’t perform or understand. This unknown sacrifice symbolized a deep, unmet spiritual need. When the Bible was finally translated into their language, they understood: the eleventh sacrifice was Jesus’s death on the cross. Unlike the others, only God could offer it.
The Bible acts like a compass, realigning you with what is true. When the world disorients you, Scripture reminds you of the One who holds the map. When you drift, it lovingly redirects your steps. Even what feels like a giant mess can be rewoven into redemption through Christ.
As 2 Timothy 3:16 reminds us, “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness” (NIV). God’s Word corrects you, not to shame you, but to restore you with hope.
