God Speaks: A 5-Day Devotional to Hear From GodУзор

Day 3: The Lie and the Truth Rebuke
God’s Word doesn’t just teach. It also rebukes. To rebuke means to call out lies and confront what is false so we can live in God’s truth.
From the very beginning, lies have been part of our story. In the Garden of Eden, Satan whispered to Eve, “You will not certainly die” (Genesis 3:4, NIV). His message was subtle and sneaky: “Sin isn’t a big deal. There won’t be any consequences.”
When Eve ate the fruit, she didn’t fall down dead. But something far deeper broke. Spiritual death began. The world fractured, and humanity became separated from God.
This ancient lie still echoes today. Many people live as if sin doesn’t matter. They think there’s no need for repentance or rescue. But the Bible rebukes this false belief. It speaks with clarity and power: “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 6:23, NIV).
Sin brings destruction, but God’s Word doesn’t stop there. It replaces the lie with hope. Through the cross, Jesus bore the full weight of our sin and defeated it through His resurrection.
As 2 Timothy reminds us, “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness” (2 Timothy 3:16, NIV). The Bible rebukes the lie that sin is harmless and points us to the truth: eternal life is found only in Christ.
Reflect:
What lies are you tempted to believe about sin? How can God’s truth reshape how you walk in freedom?
