Hy was daarvan oortuig dat God by magte is om uit die dood op te wek, waaruit Abraham vir Isak ook, om dit so te stel, terug ontvang het. Omdat Isak geglo het, het hy Jakob en Esau geseën met die oog op die toekoms. Omdat Jakob geglo het, het hy op sy sterfbed albei die seuns van Josef geseën en tot God gebid terwyl hy op die knop van sy kierie leun. Omdat Josef geglo het, het hy kort voor sy dood melding gemaak van die uittog van die Israeliete en opdrag gegee in verband met sy liggaam.
