Josua het die manne gevat en die geveg met die Amalekiete gaan begin. Moses, Aäron en Hur het teen die koppie uitgeklim en bo-op gaan staan. Solank as wat Moses sy hand in die lug gehou het, het Israel die oorhand gehad. Die oomblik as hy sy hand laat sak het om te rus, swaai die geveg om en begin Amalek wen. Moses se hand het naderhand moeg geword. Hulle het hom toe op ’n klip laat sit. Aäron en Hur het weerskante van hom gaan staan en sy hande in die lug gehou. So kon sy hande in die lug bly totdat die son die dag ondergegaan het. Josua het die Amalekiete daardie dag heeltemal verslaan.
