en julle daarop toe te lê om die eenheid wat die Gees bewerk, te bewaar deur die band van vrede – een liggaam en een Gees, soos julle ook deur julle roeping tot een hoop geroep is: een Here, een geloof, een doop, een God en Vader van almal, wat oor almal en deur almal en in almal is. Maar aan elkeen van ons is 'n genadegawe geskenk, soos •Christus dit uitgedeel het. Daarom staan daar: “Toe Hy opgevaar het na bo, het Hy krygsgevangenes weggevoer; Hy het gawes aan die mense gegee.” “Hy het opgevaar” – waarop anders dui dit as dat Hy eers neergedaal het na die laer dele, die aarde? Die Een wat neergedaal het, is dieselfde Een wat opgevaar het tot bo al die hemele, sodat Hy alle dinge kon vul. En Hy het sommige as •apostels, ander as profete, ander as evangeliste, en ander as herders en leraars gegee, om die •heiliges toe te rus vir hulle dienswerk, om die liggaam van Christus op te bou, totdat ons almal kom tot eenheid in geloof en in kennis van die •Seun van God, en tot 'n volwassenheid wat in ooreenstemming is met die volgroeide gestalte van die volheid van Christus.
