Back to the Basics 365

DAY 277 OF 365

A wise person once opined that the church is Christ’s bride, but your wife is YOUR bride. If you’re married, God has called you specifically to meet the needs of your family. Love your wife, children, and even your extended family. Invest in those relationships, and it will pay big dividends.

I remember attending a man's funeral and noticing how empty the church was. It was literally the pastor, a handful of church staff, and maybe one or two guests who didn’t want to speak or share any meaningful memories. I wondered where this man's relatives were. Did he have any children? Was he ever married? Did he hurt people along the way, and now they no longer wanted to see or hear from him? The truth is, I never really learned why so few people attended his funeral. But it was still something worth considering.

Do you ever stop to thank God for the people in your life? Are you taking care of and nurturing those precious seeds of friendship and family? Do you wonder how your life would be if you had no one to speak with? I’m grateful that God has given me so many friends and lifelong connections through my local church. What a joy it is to have healthy relationships.
