Indescribable Compassion (S1-E6)Mfano

What has Jesus called you to?
Jesus has called you. Like the first disciples, you follow Him, fixing your eyes on your Master. But what exactly has He called you to… and who is He shaping you to become?
In The Chosen, the disciples wrestle with these same questions. One of them says, "I don't know if anything is clear ... He (Jesus) is the only one who knows who I will become. Above all, He is the teacher, and we are His disciples." That posture of trust is where all true calling begins.
Jesus gives us the key in John 15. ”I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit, fruit that will last.” The goal of discipleship isn’t achievement. It is transformation that produces lasting fruit.
Paul describes this fruit in Galatians 5: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. These qualities don’t grow out of effort or personality. They grow from the Spirit’s life in us. Our part is to stay connected to Jesus so that His life flows through ours.
In John 15, Jesus also mentions two directions of relationship. The first is vertical: asking the Father, praying and receiving from him. The second is horizontal: loving one another. Together they shape a life rooted in God and reaching outward in love.
Your calling will take a unique form, shaped by your gifts, story, and context, but its purpose is always the same: to remain in Christ and to bear fruit that reflects him. As the disciples discovered who they were by walking with Jesus, so will you.
Reflection Questions
- What has Jesus called you to do or become in this season?
- Which fruit of the Spirit do you most want to see grow in your life?
- How can you deepen both your vertical and horizontal relationships this week?
Prayer
Lord, I want to do what You ask of me. I want the fruit of the Spirit to become more visible in my life. Guide my steps, strengthen my love, and help me to live faithfully in what you’ve called me to do. Amen.
