Wondered by the Word — the Bible in a YearMfano

Positioned in Your Prayer
Key Verse : Nehemiah 1:4-6
Have you ever wondered what it takes for God to hear you? Hear you and act on it? Of course, God hears us—He’s omniscient—but He doesn’t always take action in a manner that we desire. However, we see God take action after hearing the prayers of Nehemiah. There is something special about how Nehemiah lives, what he asks for, and why he asks what he does.
Nehemiah serves as an intercessor for the people of Israel. It says that he wept for days while continuing to fast and pray. The word continuing is essential because it indicates that this is how Nehemiah lived out his life.
He goes on to pray that we have a God that keeps His covenants and steadfast love with those who love Him and keep His commandments. It is not the act of fasting; it is what fasting does to us. Fasting positions our heart and aligns it with God. It creates space within us for Him to dwell. Obedience to His commandments keeps us aligned with Him.
Faithful acts are always honoring to God, but we should do them not only to honor Him but to position our hearts so that our desires are of Him. His essence is within them because it is within every part of us.
We see God act on the prayers of one man. God loves, blesses, comforts, heals, saves, and defends because He is GOOD. God looks at the heart. Let’s position our hearts so that He is pleased with what He sees. If we can be faithful like Nehemiah, we will know what to ask for, and we will see God take action.
Our faith in Christ is where victory lives.
I have been sitting in Psalm 24:1 and meditating on the truth that we belong to Him, we are His, and in Him, we have everything we need. I was reminded that I don’t have to look anywhere else but to Him for sustenance. As I pray through this verse and the power that is revealed in the fullness that is His, I am overwhelmed with His goodness and the eternal access that we have in Him. He is our constant source, and He wants nothing more than full dependency on Him.
We have to position ourselves so that we can stand still and firm, believing that we will see His salvation in what is coming up against us. We go into it, whatever we need to press into, WITH God, because no matter what, we experience the weight of His glory.
