Introduction What does it actually mean to abide? Meno (μένω) — the Greek word translated “abide” or “remain” in John 15:1–10 — simply means to stay. To hold your ground in a relationship. To not leave. Jesus uses the image of a branch remaining connected to a vine: apart from that connection, the branch cannot produce fruit.
