ZOTI Perëndi mbolli një kopsht në Eden, në lindje, dhe aty vuri njeriun që kishte formuar. ZOTI Perëndi bëri të mbijnë nga toka pemë tërheqëse nga pamja e të mira nga shija. Në mes të kopshtit vuri pemën e jetës dhe pemën e njohjes të së mirës e të së keqes. Një lumë që buronte nga Edeni, ujiste kopshtin e prej andej ndahej në katër lumenj. I pari quhet Pishon e rrethon tërë vendin e Havilahut, ku ka ar. Ari i këtij vendi është i mirë. Aty ka edhe bdel e gur oniksi. I dyti quhet Gihon e rrethon tërë vendin e Kushit. I treti quhet Tigër e rrjedh në lindje të Asirisë. I katërti quhet Eufrat. ZOTI Perëndi e mori njeriun dhe e vendosi në kopshtin e Edenit, që ta punonte e ta ruante. ZOTI Perëndi e urdhëroi njeriun e i tha: «Nga çdo pemë e kopshtit ha lirisht, por nga pema e njohjes të së mirës e të së keqes mos ha, sepse ditën që ha prej saj, me të vërtetë do të vdesësh».
