Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Twoਨਮੂਨਾ

God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble (James 4:6 NKJV).
Have you humbled yourself to receive God’s grace?
We start with Naaman, a Syrian commander with leprosy (2 Kings 5:1). Despite his position and character, he humbled himself and was healed by following Elisha's instructions to dip in the Jordan River (2 Kings 5:10). How willing are you to trust God's ways, even when they seem unconventional?
We also see in our New Testament reading that Jesus humbled the Samaritan woman by revealing her past (John 4:18). She humbled herself and placed her faith in Him. Are you willing to confront your shortcomings and receive God’s grace? God's grace reached Naaman, an enemy of Israel, and a Samaritan, someone despised by the Jews. Today, let's reflect on our willingness to humble ourselves before God. Are there areas where pride is hindering us from receiving His grace? Let's open our hearts to God's mercy and allow His grace to transform us.
Employment Point: Humble yourself before God to receive His grace.

About this Plan

Devotions on F.I.R.E. journeys through the Bible in one year. Each day includes a devotion based on Dr. Burge’s F.I.R.E. method of Bible Study. F.I.R.E. stands for Familiarity, Interpretation, Relationship, and Employment. The F.I.R.E. method and the daily devotions help readers remember and apply what they read as they fuel the fire in their hearts for God’s Word—adapted from the book Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two, by Dr. Ken J. Burge, Sr.
