Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Twoਨਮੂਨਾ

Abide in Me, and I in you (John 15:4 NKJV).
Do you cling to Jesus and obey His words?
In today’s reading, Elisha receives the mantle of Elijah to carry on his prophetic role. Elijah’s disciple knows that his master is about to go to heaven, and that he lacks the power to succeed his powerful mentor. For this reason, he clings to his leader, who tests him three times by attempting to shrug off the determined follower (2 Kings 2:2, 4, 6).
In the New Testament, Jesus uses the example of Himself as the vine and His followers as the branches. Those who cling to Jesus abide in Him and are fruitful. Our Lord says, “Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me” (John 15:4 NKJV). God’s power flows through individuals who stay connected to Him by walking closely with Him.
Are you abiding in Jesus daily? How can you deepen your connection with Him? Today, let's commit to clinging to Jesus, obeying His words, and allowing His power to work through us to bear fruit for His glory.
Employment Point: Walk with Jesus for divine enablement to minister.

About this Plan

Devotions on F.I.R.E. journeys through the Bible in one year. Each day includes a devotion based on Dr. Burge’s F.I.R.E. method of Bible Study. F.I.R.E. stands for Familiarity, Interpretation, Relationship, and Employment. The F.I.R.E. method and the daily devotions help readers remember and apply what they read as they fuel the fire in their hearts for God’s Word—adapted from the book Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two, by Dr. Ken J. Burge, Sr.
