Eternal Perspective

I sat across from a brother, and I knew this moment was something sacred. We didn’t share the same language, but the Spirit gave witness to the bond we share in Christ.

I remembered the first time I saw his photo: a man with a donkey and cart, moving slowly across a desert landscape. He stood at a crossroads where the only markers were faint impressions in the dirt. It felt like the very definition of “the ends of the earth.”

As we spoke, I learned he had grown up among a nomadic people. They don’t think of home as one fixed place. Instead, home is a different kind of community.

And suddenly, I saw something new about my faith. This brother reminded me: as followers of Jesus, we are pilgrims too. This world is not our permanent home. We are strangers and exiles, longing for a better country. We are looking to a heavenly home.

The men and women of faith in Hebrews 11 lived with that same vision. They confessed they were foreigners here, because their hearts were set on a kingdom that cannot be shaken.
