REFORM OUR WORSHIP, LORD!

When you think of worship, what comes to mind? Worship is extravagant admiration towards the Lord. Psalms 95:1 and Psalms 100:1 teach about shouting as worship. Psalms 95:6 talks about bowing down and kneeling as worship. Romans 12:1 teaches you to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, which is an expression of worship.

The first mention of worship in the Bible is found in Genesis 22:5, the story of Abraham presenting his only son as a burnt offering to the Lord. There was no music or instruments for worship, just Abraham’s heart of obedience, with a gift of extravagant love to bring to his Creator. This was his act of worship. Similarly, Jesus gave His body as a sacrifice for you, so you can be forgiven of your sins and have everlasting life with Him. How do you respond to such a sacrifice and act of reformation? Worship Him and submit yourself fully to Him!

Jesus’ act of reformation is an example of the kind of worship God wants from us—to give Him an extravagant offering that He is fully worthy of. Allow God to reform the way you worship by teaching you to not just sing songs to Him, but to present yourself and your life as a living sacrifice to Him. Ask yourself, what can I bring as a sacrifice unto the Lord? The story of Mary in John 12 is an example of what extravagant worship looks like. Will you allow God to reform your worship to bring the extravagant sacrifice He is worthy of?

PRAYER

Lord, I ask for you to reform any crooked ways within me. I seek your heart and mind in all things. I pray less of me, more of you. I want to be zealous for your discipline. Show me what pleases you. Give me a teachable heart of repentance. I want to be set apart for You, for Your glory. I love you. Amen.

APPLICATION

• Evaluate the areas in your life that you have not fully surrendered to the Lord.
• Repent for holding back these areas from God and give them to Him.
