REFORM OUR HEARTS, LORD!

Connecting with God through Reformation allows God to reform every crooked way within you. Jeremiah 17:9 teaches that the human heart is deceitful and needs change. Human morality and behavior modification will not make you righteous. “Because of the weakness of your human nature, I am using the illustration of slavery to help you understand all this. Previously, you let yourselves be slaves to impurity and lawlessness, which led ever deeper into sin. Now you must give yourselves to be slaves to righteous living, so that you will become holy” (Romans 6:19). Reformation brings holiness! 2 Timothy 1:9 reads, “For God saved us and called us to live a holy life. He did this, not because we deserved it, but because that was his plan from before the beginning of time—to show us his grace through Christ Jesus.” Your prayer should be, “Reform my heart, Lord, till my heart’s cry is, ‘Lord, you are Holy, make me Holy!”

Pursuing a life of holiness will require you to have a heart that is consecrated unto the Lord, fully set apart for Him. Pray David’s prayer in Psalm 139, asking God to search your heart for anything that offends Him. Take time to reflect on what you are watching, listening to, and doing. Give the Lord permission to expose impurities in your life, so you can be made to look more like Him! The closer you get to Him, the more you become like Him.

PRAYER

Lord, I ask for you to reform any crooked ways within me. I seek your heart and mind in all things. I pray less of me, more of you. I want to be zealous for your discipline. Show me what pleases you. Give me a teachable heart of repentance. I want to be set apart for You, for Your glory. I love you. Amen.

APPLICATION

• Fasting is one way to consecrate yourself unto the Lord. Start a fast this week.
• Ask the Lord how long He wants you to fast and what he wants you to fast.
• If you have never fasted before, start by evaluating what is keeping you from daily encounters with God and fast whatever that thing is (sports, media, TV, etc).
