Discover Your Redemptive Purpose

DAY 4 OF 7

Discover the Impact of Your Presence
Because the way people experience you is part of your purpose.

There’s something about you that changes the atmosphere when you walk into a room.

It may not feel dramatic. In fact, it’s likely so natural that you don’t even notice it. But the truth is, people experience something when you show up. They feel something. And that experience—what your presence creates in others—is part of your redemptive purpose.

You affect isn’t about performance or personality. It’s not about whether you’re an extrovert, a helper, a leader, or a deep thinker. Affect is about the feeling people carry with them after being near you. It’s how your unique presence reflects God’s heart in a way that brings others life.

When someone is living on purpose, their affect leaves a mark. It makes others feel safe, seen, encouraged, empowered, included, believed in. The impact might be soft or bold, quiet or catalytic—but it always brings dignity, light, and freedom.

You’ve probably experienced this in others: someone whose kindness gave you courage, whose listening helped you see your value, whose confidence made space for your own. The same is true for you. People encounter something through you that reflects the goodness of God—even if you don’t realize it yet.

Matthew 5 reminds us: you are the light of the world. Not in a flashy way—but as a natural outflow of who you are.

2 Corinthians 2 says we are the fragrance of Christ. People notice something about us when we’ve been with Him.

And 1 Timothy 6 calls us to be “rich in good works,” not just in what we do, but in who we become.

So how do you begin to name your affect?

You ask.
Because what’s most natural to you is often invisible to you.

It’s others who can best reflect it back—who can say, “When I’m around you, I feel more hopeful,” or “You help me believe I can do hard things,” or “You create space where people feel safe.”

And when you hear it, you’ll know. It will feel like something you’ve longed to be true—and suddenly realize it already is.

That’s the beauty of affect. It’s not something you strive for. It’s something you carry.
It’s a quiet echo of your purpose.

Today’s Step

Reach out to 2 or 3 trusted people and ask:
“How does my presence positively impact people, rooms, and situations?”

Write down their responses. Let their words surprise and affirm you. Then ask God,
“How do You want me to use this part of my presence more intentionally?”

Closing Prayer

God, thank You for entrusting me with a presence that can reflect Your love. Help me carry that presence with humility and intention—like Jesus did—so others feel seen, safe, and strengthened through it. Shape my presence to look more like His: full of grace, truth, compassion, and power. Make me aware of the quiet ways You’re working through me to bring hope and healing. Amen.

About this Plan

Discover Your Redemptive Purpose

Somewhere inside, you’ve sensed there’s more—not more to achieve, but more to give, to see, to become. Purpose doesn’t arrive all at once; it reveals itself in pieces—the burdens you carry, the perspective you hold, the impact you have, and the gifts already in your hands. This 7-day journey will help you begin to discover your purpose: the life God designed you to live, the healing He created you to bring. Through Scripture, prayer, and simple daily steps, you’ll name what’s already been growing in you. If you’re ready to start—this is your next step.
