Discover Your Redemptive Purposeਨਮੂਨਾ

Discover What Breaks Your Heart
Because what breaks your heart may be the key to your calling.
You know the feeling. Something in the world feels off, unjust, heavy—and it hits you harder than it seems to hit others. Maybe it stirs anger or deep sadness. Maybe it leaves you restless or heartbroken. Whatever form it takes, that ache is hard to shake.
That ache matters.
It might be the first clue to how God designed you to bring healing to others.
When God made you in His image, He didn’t just give you intellect, strength, or creativity. He gave you part of His heart. A specific piece of His love for the world was placed inside you so that, when something is broken around you, you feel it. Not to overwhelm you—but to invite you to respond.
That feeling of holy discontent, what you might call “angst,” isn’t a flaw. It’s a signal. A sign that something matters deeply to you because it matters to God, too.
In Isaiah 58, God speaks through the prophet to call His people back to a true, active kind of faith. Not performative or distant, but engaged. He tells them that the kind of worship He desires isn’t about rituals—it’s about justice. About loosing chains, sharing bread, standing with the oppressed, repairing what’s broken. “If you spend yourself on behalf of the hungry,” He says, “your light will rise in the darkness.”
That is what redemptive purpose looks like when it comes to life. And for you, it often begins with an ache.
In Mark 3, we see Jesus in a synagogue, watching a man with a shriveled hand. The religious leaders are more concerned with rules than with healing. And Jesus, moved by both grief and anger, restores the man’s hand in front of them all. His ache wasn’t passive—it led to action. His holy anger revealed His heart. The healing wasn’t just a miracle—it was a glimpse of what the kingdom of God looks like when compassion moves toward injustice.
In Jeremiah 22:16, God describes a king who defended the cause of the poor and needy and says: Is that not what it means to know me? Let that speak to you. The God who made you is not distant from suffering. And when you care about it, when you move toward it, you are moving closer to His heart.
So what breaks your heart?
What stories won’t leave you alone? What burdens keep showing up, even when you try to move on? You don’t have to carry them all. But you can begin by asking which one God is asking you to notice.
You don’t have to fix the world. You don’t need a five-point plan. But you do get to listen.
Let your ache speak. Let it lead you back to the God who placed it in you—not to weigh you down, but to draw you into His work of restoration.
You were made to respond.
You were made to restore.
And this ache—it’s holy ground.
Today’s Step
Take 15 minutes today to reflect on a moment when you felt deep ache, injustice, or grief for others. Write down what stirred you and why. Then ask:
“God, what do You want me to notice about this?”
Pay attention to what rises to the surface. Let it lead you forward.
Closing Prayer
God, thank You for giving me a heart that feels. Thank You for allowing me to care deeply about what matters to You. Show me how to listen to what breaks my heart—not with fear or frustration, but with faith. Help me see that this ache is not a burden, but a clue to the healing You want to bring through me. Amen.
