“And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Phil. 4:7)

As long as we’re talking about peace-robbers, sometimes you have robbers in your life who need some special attention. Simply pursuing them or distancing yourself from the situation just won’t be enough.

Maybe you have a family member you must learn to live with or a co-worker who’s not going anywhere anytime soon. These kinds of robbers must be dealt with head-on.

This is where you bring in outside help—name your robbers and then share those names with a trusted friend or mentor, someone who can provide you with the kind of accountability you need to maintain your peace in the midst of turmoil.

The Bible says this in Ecclesiastes 4:12: “Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.” In this verse, Solomon emphasizes the truth that there is strength in numbers. So don’t try to keep the peace in your heart by yourself—pull in others to help you set up a stronger perimeter around the precious gift of peace.
