Resolve Not to Defile

Daniel 1:8
“But Daniel resolved not to defile himself with the royal food and wine…”

What have we resolved not to do for the glory of God in our lives?

What self-control have we developed for the greater purposes of God in our lives to be accomplished?

Some things defile us and limit God’s Spirit from working through us.

Have we identified the ways “the world, the flesh and the devil” are trying to defile us?

Daniel’s choice not to drink royal food and wine which had been sacrificed or dedicated to idols was a decision to honor the presence of God within him, more than the king in front of him.

Who are we choosing to honor with our choices?

Our bodies are the temple of God, to be filled with the Spirit of God, for God’s glory. In an age of grace and freedom, the price for defiling our lives with sin is still high. We can’t enjoy sin and the presence of God at the same time.

Lord Jesus, I offer my body to you this day as a living sacrifice. I resolve not to look lustfully at a woman, to keep my tongue from sin and to live with self-control for your glory.
