God’s Holy Name
Ezekiel 39:25, 27-29
“‘I will now bring Jacob back from captivity and will have compassion on all the people of Israel and I will be zealous for my holy name…I will show myself holy through them in the sight of many nations…I will gather them to their own land not leaving any behind…I will pour out my spirit on the house of Israel, declares the Lord.”
God’s faithfulness in bringing Israel back from exile and then delivering them from a massive enemy attack will be a global witness that God is a covenant keeper and Israel’s deliverer. When we pray, Hallowed be thy name” or “Holy is your name” – we are agreeing with God that the integrity of His name and His Word is important – not just in our lives, but also amongst the nations. In our privatized version of faith we can easily lose sight of the global plan of God to declare His Holy name to the nations.
Lord God, your name is Holy. You are Sovereign and your will for Israel and your people will be established.
