The Living Presence
Exodus 13:22
“Neither the pillar of cloud by day nor the pillar of fire by night left its place in front of the people.”
Acts 1:4, 5
“Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised…in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.”
Why was the gift of the Holy Spirit so essential to the disciples?
The Church was birthed at Pentecost when the living presence of Jesus filled his disciples. Like the pillar of cloud and fire, God’s presence through his Spirit is always with his people, to guide us and accompany us. The Holy Spirit empowers us for witness and mission and is the essential gift that no one can live without.
Are we honoring and following the leading of the Holy Spirit like the pillar of fire in the Israelite camp?
Lord Jesus, thank you for sending your Spirit to lead and guide me into your mission for your glory.
