Lots of things in life can be earned through hard work. Starting on the volleyball team, getting an “A” on a test, beating a difficult level in a video game—they all take some amount of hard work on your part to accomplish. There is one thing that hard work won’t get you: a relationship with God. Being saved is a gift from God. In other words, you can’t earn your relationship with Him by doing all the right things or working hard to gain His love. All you have to do is receive the free gift of His love offered through Jesus. Try to memorize this verse. Let it remind you that there’s nothing you can do to earn God’s love; it’s a gift given to you through Jesus.
