Day 6: The Eternal Impact of Wealth — Investing in Heaven’s Economy

Devotional
Most people think about money in temporary terms—bills, comfort, lifestyle, or status. Jesus calls us to a higher view. “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth… but store up for yourselves treasures in heaven” (Matt. 6:19–20). There is a real spiritual account, and you are making deposits all the time.

Matthew 6:21 adds, “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Your giving doesn’t just follow your heart; it shapes your heart. When you invest in what matters to God, your heart is drawn toward His priorities.

Jesus describes heavenly investment in Matthew 25:35–40: feeding the hungry, welcoming the stranger, clothing the naked, visiting the sick and imprisoned. When we serve “the least of these,” we are serving Christ Himself. Proverbs 19:17 says, “Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will reward them for what they have done.” God counts generosity to the vulnerable as a loan to Himself—and He never defaults.

Second Samuel 24:24 shows David refusing to give God a sacrifice that costs him nothing. The value of an offering is not just in its size but in its cost and love. Judas called Mary’s costly perfume “waste,” but heaven called it worship.

In God’s economy, giving is never loss; it is sowing. You may see money leave your hand, but heaven sees seed enter the ground. Earthly accounts rise and fall; heavenly treasure compounds forever.

Reflection
How would your financial choices change if you truly believed every act of generosity was a deposit in heaven’s account? Where is God inviting you to make a costly, worship-filled investment?

Prayer
Father, thank You for revealing the eternal value of money. Teach me to see every resource as a trust from You. Purify my motives in giving and lead me to invest in what matters—people, eternity, and Your Kingdom. May my treasure and my heart be found in Your hands. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
