Day 4: Access by Faith, Not Works — Wealth from Covenant

Scripture Reading:

Devotional
Inheritance is never earned; it is received. Spiritually, this is also true. Galatians 3:26–29 says that in Christ we are God’s children and “heirs according to the promise.” We don’t qualify for God’s blessing through performance but through position in Christ, the Seed of Abraham.

Through the cross, Jesus redeemed us from the curse and opened covenant blessing to all who believe (Gal. 3:13–14). Romans 11:17 uses the picture of branches grafted into a cultivated olive tree. By faith, we have been grafted into God’s covenant family and now share the same nourishing root.

Deuteronomy 8:18 tells us that God gives the power to produce wealth “to confirm his covenant.” That means every idea, opportunity, and multiplication of resources can become a sign of God’s faithfulness, not just of our intelligence. We don’t chase blessing; we walk in what covenant already provides.

Proverbs 10:22 gives us a crucial balance: “The blessing of the Lord brings wealth, without painful toil for it.” This doesn’t mean a life without effort; it means effort resting on grace, not on anxiety. Covenant wealth carries peace, not pressure. It flows from partnership with God, not from self-made striving.

Faith is the hand that receives what grace has already supplied. Works do not earn the blessing; they express it. As you trust God’s covenant and obey His leading, you move from frantic hustle to fruitful stewardship.

Reflection
Where do you still feel you must “earn” God’s favor or blessing? What would it look like to work from covenant rest rather than constant striving?

Prayer
Father, thank You for grafting me into Your covenant through Christ. I renounce the belief that I must earn what Jesus has already secured. Teach me to trust Your promise, to work diligently from rest, and to steward wealth as a sign of Your faithfulness. Let Your blessing add no sorrow, only purpose. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
