The Grace for Wealth Creationಮಾದರಿ

Day 5: The Spirituality of Wealth — Money as Kingdom Influence
Scripture Reading:
Matthew 6:24; 1 Timothy 6:9–10; 2 Corinthians 8:9; Acts 5:1–5
Devotional
Money is not neutral. It reveals and amplifies what rules the heart. Jesus warned, “You cannot serve both God and money” (Matt. 6:24). Money is either a master that competes with God, or a servant that serves God’s purposes.
First Timothy 6:9–10 warns that those who want to get rich at any cost “fall into temptation and a trap,” and that “the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil.” Notice: it’s not money itself, but the love of money—when it becomes an idol, a source of identity, or a substitute for trust in God.
Acts 5:1–5 shows how seriously God views financial hypocrisy. Ananias and Sapphira tried to look generous while secretly holding back what they had promised. Their story reminds us that stewardship is spiritual, not just mathematical. God cares about motive as much as amount.
By contrast, 2 Corinthians 8:9 gives us the model of Jesus: “Though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich.” This is grace, not greed. Jesus poured Himself out so we could be resourced for God’s purposes—resourced to give, to serve, to lift others, and to spread the gospel.
When we submit our finances to Jesus’ lordship, money becomes Kingdom influence:
- A way to care for the vulnerable
- Fuel for missions and ministry
- A testimony of God’s generosity
- A tool for justice and transformation
The question is not “Do I have money?” but “Does money have me—or does Jesus have both me and my money?”
Reflection
In what ways has money felt more like a master than a servant in your life? Where might God be inviting you to greater honesty and surrender in your financial decisions?
Prayer
Father, I enthrone Jesus as Lord over my finances. Deliver me from the love of money and from any deceit in my stewardship. Form integrity in my heart and purpose in my giving. Let my resources carry Your signature, advancing the gospel, lifting the vulnerable, and shaping culture for Your glory. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
