Growing Multigenerational Faith

31 ನ 19 ದಿನ

How many of us, when we are older, wish we had the wisdom that comes from experience, maturity, and the years of living when we were young? Young men and women who are just starting out - starting out in jobs, in marriage, just in life itself. And, how many of us had mentors or more mature people in our lives who cared enough to encourage us? Were there people who lovingly showed us and taught us how to live godly lives, how to love our spouses and others, how to instruct and guide our children? And if so, did we listen and take their guidance to heart?

Titus is instructed by Paul to show by example and instruct the men how to live godly lives, and thus instruct younger men and young women, and wives how to live according to how God would want them to live, being models of goodness and not bringing disgrace upon the Gospel. We must teach with sound doctrine, teachings that are accurate, reliable, and faithful to the Word of God, promoting spiritual health and growth. It involves understanding and applying biblical truths to one's own life, encompassing both belief and practice. If we do this one thing, our lives will show the fruit of living truthfully and faithfully according to God’s Word. We must also live our lives as those who love the Lord and care for all His people, encouraging and admonishing in love.

Questions to Consider

  • Who encourages you?
  • Who do you encourage?

Actions to Take

  • Make an intention to be an encouragement to someone else, especially someone who is starting in an area of life.
  • Spend time thanking God for the people who encouraged you. If you can, let them know that they encouraged you and how they encouraged you.

Prayer to Make

Lord, help us to mirror You in our lives, especially to ones younger, both in age and maturity, and to encourage and love as You do. Amen
