Growing Multigenerational Faithಮಾದರಿ

We will not hide them from their children, but tell to the coming generation the glorious deeds of the Lord, and his might, and the wonders that he has done. Psalm 78:4 ESV
God’s plan seems crazy, on its surface. It’s a plan that simply requires one person to tell another person who God is, what God has done, and what God is going to do.
That’s it.
In the midst of that, God’s Spirit joins the conversation, and there is belief. Then that one person tells one more person who God is, what God has done, and what God is going to do. The Spirit of God again joins the conversation, and there is belief.
It started in a garden. And they made a mess of it. But God’s Spirit specializes in redeeming messes.
In another garden, Jesus chastised the men he had chosen to spread his message of the Kingdom of God because they couldn’t stay awake while he was fervently praying. And then one of them betrays Jesus, ending up taking his own life. Everyone else runs away, hiding in fear. They made a mess of it. And God’s Spirit still was in the midst of it, specializing in redeeming messes.
Christianity is a generation-to-generation faith. It is how God has worked in the past. It is how he works now. It is how he will work in the future.
This is what the church is to be about. One generation telling the next generation who God is, what God has done, and what he will do. The church isn’t a country club; it isn’t a train station filled with people who have tickets waiting for the train to heaven. The church is the gathered people of God, on a divine mission in answer to the prayer of Jesus for “…Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.”
One person telling another person…one generation telling another generation…who God is, what God has done, and what he will do. Let’s be that people in the world, for the world, to the glory of God.
