Growing Multigenerational Faith

31 ನ 1 ದಿನ

We are known through our stories because our stories are like the threads of a tapestry, telling the larger story of our lives. Each thread has color, weight, texture, and thickness. That uniqueness is what creates the beauty of the full tapestry when seen in its completeness. People love stories, and if you want to capture attention, tell a good story.

We remember our past and we create our future through the stories of what was and the stories of what could be. The Psalmist captures this in the words of Psalm 78. It is a seesaw back and forth between the stories of the wonders God has done and the stories of his people forgetting to remember and tell these stories to one another.

In Psalm 78:5, ESV it says… ”He established a testimony in Jacob and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers to teach to their children”. Think of the stories you tell as “a testimony” and “a law”. The testimony is your personal experience of the living God and how you have seen his provision, faithfulness, wisdom, and deliverance revealed in your life. The law is the enduring truth of God contained in the Bible that is a flashlight to keep our feet from tripping and a light that guides us down the right path (Psalm 119:105).

What is your testimony of experiencing God? You have a story to tell the generations behind you. Are you telling it? What in God’s truth has been a guide for your life? You have a story to tell of the enduring and trustworthy truth of God that the generations need to hear.
