Stop Milking It - Wean for the Win!ಮಾದರಿ

The 'weaner' takes it all!
The weaning process exists to put an end to us depending on things that can never truly satisfy us. Weaning teaches us to depend on God to supply our needs. We find that he is the all-sufficient one. We learn that he holds the bigger picture and is always working for our good even when our circumstances feel painful and difficult.
Weaning happens because God wants to do a deep work of transformation in us. He wants to exchange our dependence on things that will always disappoint us and let us down, for a dependence on him.
Like the scripture this devotional has been centered around from Psalm 131 says, a weaned child is content – calm and quiet in the arms of their parent. This is a picture of what we can experience with our Heavenly Father. Once the weaning process is complete, we reach a new level of maturity and wisdom, but also a contentment in his presence. Contentment means to be satisfied, fulfilled, restful, peaceful, at ease, not worried, unhurried and happy. Contentment is found in the arms of our loving Father God. As this devotion comes to an end I would strongly encourage you to acknowledge that if God is taking you through this process, it is a good thing. Because, get ready for it … the ‘weaner’ takes it all! I hope that whenever you hear the ABBA track ‘The winner takes it all’, you’ll remember this ridiculous (yet genius if I say so myself!) play on words and you’ll reflect again on the importance of spiritual weaning. Get yourself in front of your mirror with a hairbrush and belt out the chorus of ‘the weaner takes it all’!
I hope and pray this plan has helped you view weaning in a different light, and that you will go forward without milking it, but instead you’ll ‘wean for the win’.

Prayer
God, help me as I go forward to recognise the times in my life when I am being weaned and to embrace this process as fully as I can, knowing that you are growing and changing me into a stronger believer. I want to be content like a weaned child, knowing and trusting that your ways are best, and leaving behind all of the things that take my attention from you. Amen.
