Stop Milking It - Wean for the Win!ಮಾದರಿ

Cheer on other weaners
Encouragement – if you are in a weaning time, be encouraged. You are growing, developing and being transformed by God. Although it’s a painful process, you are becoming more mature and your character is being formed to be more like Jesus.
I also believe it’s really important to encourage others around us, when we recognise they too are in a time of weaning. We need to cheer others on through what we know first-hand is a difficult process. Let’s go – standing strong as the dream wean team!
Knowing that you are not alone during a time of struggle is so helpful. I love it when I can relate to other people’s situations and feelings and it comforts me to know that I’m not the only one struggling with a particular issue. That’s why I believe in being honest about the challenges we face and not portraying a perfect life. There is huge strength in vulnerability and in sharing the ups and downs of our lives and journeys. It connects us, helps us feel compassion for each other and allows the opportunity to serve and bless each other if we know times are hard. Encouraging others will also take the focus off ourselves – becoming self-absorbed can be another danger of weaning times. My experience of redundancy at times felt all-consuming and I had to guard against the constant temptation to host a permanent pity party. Don’t deny the struggle of the wean, but try not to allow the struggle to dominate your life.
We absolutely do need to look after ourselves, but it’s important to look out for the needs of others too and to do our best to encourage and cheer on fellow weaners. You’ll find strength in standing shoulder to shoulder with other weaners.
Weaners unite – we win when we help others wean. #Dreamweanteam
Reflection
Make a list of the reasons that this time of weaning is encouraging – what impact is it having/will it have on your spiritual walk?
Who can you think of right now that is experiencing a challenging time of weaning?
Do one thing to encourage that person today. It doesn’t need to be a huge gesture, a simple text with some kindness and encouragement will go a long way.
