Stop Milking It - Wean for the Win!ಮಾದರಿ

Wild card blessings
Surprises – surprisingly good things can come out of the difficult process of weaning. For me, after losing my job, I really began to seriously focus on writing. I had written blogs before, but had never had concentrated time to focus on developing my passion for writing. It made me realise just how much I love writing, and that I actually feel it’s something God’s called me to do. I now dedicate much more time to writing as it’s a passion and desire that has grown so strong within me. The fact that I’ve had a book published is a huge surprise to me – it’s the fulfilment of a dream that I wasn’t sure would ever become a reality for me. This new focus on and passion for writing was borne in the difficult time of redundancy. It was a surprisingly good wild card blessing that I didn’t see coming. Creativity within me was given space to flourish when I was taken out of the busyness of the working environment. Losing my job also led to a new career path in sign language. During my time of unemployment I learnt level two and three of British Sign language. This meant that when the world opened up again after Covid, I was equipped with the right level of skill to be able to work with deaf students, which I’m still doing now.
Perhaps new relationships will come from your weaning time. Or maybe it’ll be new skills, new passions, new dreams, or new experiences. God is weaning you to add to your life, not to diminish it. Look out for the wild card blessings and the surprises winging their way to you my fellow weaner. Like our scripture today from Job says, when you’ve passed the test you’ll come forth as gold – so look out for the surprisingly shiny golden moments that will be given to you as you leave behind the milk.
Reflection
Have you experienced any surprises from God in your current wean or a previous wean?
Spend some time thanking God for how he is working in your wean and ask him to show you any wild card blessings he may be starting to unfold in your life.
