Stop Milking It - Wean for the Win!ಮಾದರಿ

Choose your 'chood'
Attitude – a simple definition for the word attitude is that it’s about the way you think and feel about somebody or something. During times of weaning I believe we need to do our best to have a godly and a positive attitude. This doesn’t mean putting on a fake cheeseball grin and pretending all is well. We can be honest with God and with others who we trust, and share openly that we are experiencing a challenging time, and all this can be done with a good attitude.
I stated previously how we lose a lot of control during times of weaning. For a control freak like myself this is extremely testing. I love to plan, to make lists and be prepared. Every Sunday I create a plan for the full week ahead. When the control is removed from my life (as with my period of redundancy) I am a grumpy little sausage (there’s that different kind of wiener again!). When I was unemployed for eighteen months it was especially trying for me as I had no idea when change would come. I was at the mercy of God’s timing and I did not like that – I like being in charge of the timetables – thank you very much and kind regards God!
However, one area where we can maintain a level of control is over our attitude. As the title for today states, we get to ‘choose our chood’. We can decide that we are going to approach times of weaning as positively as we possibly can. We can maintain a level of gratitude and thankfulness to God despite being in the middle of a challenging time. We can decide that we will love others and be a positive influence despite what we are experiencing. We can be determined to make the best of each day, and even though our circumstances may not be what we have chosen, we can, as difficult as it may be, choose a positive ‘chood’.
Reflection
What kind of a ‘chood’ do you currently have as you get through this weaning time?
What can you practically do to choose a more positive chood?
Read the scripture for today and spend some time reflecting on this and asking God to help you have an attitude that doesn’t grumble or complain, but where your life shines and points people to him, even in a challenging time in your life.

About this Plan

This plan is focused on the theme of spiritual weaning. It examines the things God may be weaning us off and explains why weaning is an important process in our spiritual development. It unpacks the reasons as to why we need to ‘lean into the wean’ and embrace what God is doing through the weaning process to help us become more mature in him.
