In Grief

Grief can be incredibly taxing and difficult to navigate. In times of grief, it can be helpful to remember that loss is not something we will always have to deal with. We won’t always be heavy-hearted, and our emotions won’t always feel overwhelming. There is no shortage of loss in this life, but God promises that a better age is on the horizon. When Jesus is ruling and reigning on the earth, there will be no death, sadness, crying, or pain. Though we weep now, there will come a time when crying ceases.

Leaning on God’s promise of perfection doesn’t eliminate our current struggles, and it doesn’t necessarily minimize our pain. Looking forward to eternity does help us maintain hope and perspective. If we know that our suffering won’t last forever, we can endure longer. If we are convinced that restoration is coming, we won’t give in to despair or constant negativity.

As we look toward the Lord and his promises, we are not left alone to navigate our pain. He is with us every step of the way. He gives us wisdom, comfort, and peace. He lifts our spirits, and he gives us strength when we feel like we can’t go on. He offers us his companionship and help through every season.

Today, give your sorrows to the Prince of Peace. Lean on him while you wait for the perfection of eternity. You are not expected to walk through your grief and pain alone. You can know his comfort and peace that passes understanding. He can calm your nervous system and bring relief. Today, you can lean on the one who is always near and ready to comfort you.
