Step of Faith

God rewards those who seek him. He responds as we deliberately search for him. He meets us as we draw closer to him by reading the Word and meditating on his goodness. He sees each act of faith, and he is pleased by them. Today’s Scripture doesn’t say that he rewards those who seek him all day, behave the right way, or don’t make mistakes. He rewards those who faithfully seek him. Each step we take toward him counts.

Simple devotion is honoring to God. Our relationship with him isn’t meant to be complicated or burdensome. He simply wants us to turn our eyes toward him and include him in our lives. He wants us to depend on him and experience the goodness of his presence. Every prayer, acknowledgment, and moment of surrender matters. Our relationship with him is meant to be the culmination of a lifetime of devotion. It’s not meant to be made up of highly emotional, mountain-top experiences.

Each time you intentionally turn to God, your faith grows. Each time you approach him in prayer, say thank you, or praise his name, your relationship is strengthened. You are seeking him each time you lean on him through uncertainty, let his love soften your heart, or choose his ways over the world’s ways. These things are not usually glamorous, and they cannot always be planned. Your relationship with him is more about faithfulness than formulas or perfection.

Today, give God your time and ask him how to move forward in faith. Ask him what you can do to seek him and listen quietly and confidently for his answer. He will be faithful to lead you. He is delighted by your willingness to honor him and search for him. Your efforts make him proud, and he sees the intentions of your heart.
