Worth Pursuing

Communion with God is not a one-time occurrence. We aren’t supposed to grasp ahold of salvation and then stop looking for him. Salvation is simply the starting point for a lifetime of devotion. We are meant to seek him for all our days. By the end of our lives, our relationship with him will be made up of countless interactions and decisions to be faithful. Each time we look to him we strengthen our faith and deepen our commitment to him.

We will inevitably wander toward the direction of our gaze, and we typically find what we are looking for. This is why we must focus on our Creator. He is meant to be the object of our affection. We were created to worship him, but if we choose not to, we will inevitably worship something else. We will turn toward temporary gods and goals that cannot possibly satisfy our souls or give us eternal life.

The presence of God is what we long for. The world will offer many fleeting pleasures, but only God can offer us salvation and true restoration. He alone can give us wisdom for every problem, peace that surpasses understanding, hope that will not disappoint, and love that is eternal. No amount of success, status, or wealth can provide what God can. No matter what you lack, he is the one who has what you need.

Today, let your life be defined by the continuous pursuit of God’s love. There is no greater treasure in heaven or earth. Don’t give up your search for him. Seek to follow him in all you do, and you won’t be disappointed. Through every high and every low, you will see that he is worth the pursuit.
