Search & Find

When we seek God, we respond to the invitation issued to each person from the beginning until the end of time. From the moment he created us, God has longed for a relationship with his people. No matter how passionately we pursue God, let’s not forget that he first pursued us! Scripture reminds us that the only reason we can love him is that he loved us first. His love for us is what paved the way for us to be able to seek him at all.

God’s love for us is steady and unchanging despite our response to it. His love isn’t altered for our ability to love him back. He is faithful even when we aren’t. His love doesn’t increase or decrease based on our performance or behavior. He doesn’t withhold his love when we fail, and he doesn’t shower extra love on us when we succeed. His faithful love remains the same despite our lack of consistency.

When God invites us to seek him, we can be assured that he wants to be found. Searching for him isn’t meant to be an overwhelming task or one more thing that we aren’t accomplishing. Our relationship with him isn’t meant to be a burden or something we add to our to-do list. Our time with him should feel as natural and steady as breathing. He is our Maker, and we are the work of his hands. We are made in his image, and he lives within us. He is not foreign to us, and we are not meant to be separated from him.

God wants us close to him because he knows that his presence is where we will find true freedom. It’s where we find true joy, belonging, and satisfaction. He promises that if we look for him, we will find him. Our pursuit of him has nothing to do with earning his favor or approval. It has everything to do with the fullness of the relationship that he invites us to enjoy.

Today, be encouraged by God’s faithfulness. Remember that he promises to be with you through all of your days. Be confident that his love is steady, his promises are reliable, and his presence is exactly what you need. Seek him today with the expectation that you will find exactly what you are looking for.
